| Bad customer service, snail-like delivery My order had been for a simple pair of headphones. Gateway had the best price, listed the item as in stock, and had the shipping method I needed to get the item on time (I needed to get it in no more than 7 days). Naively I beleived that a company as well known as Gateway wouldn't make such horrible decisions about customer support and item status displays. After making the online purchase with 2 day delivery and being given an estimated delivery date of 7 days, I sat back and waited. They began processing the order, and sent me emails confirming that it was being processed. Everything looked normal, and the processes seemed well made. My order was too time sensitive to wait, so I asked to cancel. They said that was too bad, because if I didn't cancel they would list my order as "priority level" now. |
| Gateway -- to trouble I have been using a Gateway for two years now, and despite the companies offer of trading in a computer for a new model after two years, its an offer which isn't enough for me to recommend a Gateway. In the beginning everything was rosy, the computer itself contained a good mix of components, and even today will play some of the newest games to a degree. Two days after setting up the system, the screen reduced itself to a minimum resolution and colour depth; an obvious graphics card problem. Endless calls to Gateways technical support hotline (who send you around in circles, and despite promises never call back) finally resulted in a technician replacing the motherboard as the graphics card is on-board. |
